Sleeping Systems
On overnight hikes, you must consider how you will spend the night while sleeping outdoors. Some hardier individuals have managed to just curl up in some naturally sheltered location and go to sleep wearing only the clothes they have with them. But for most of us a reasonably comfortable night’s sleep requires extra gear to keep us warm. The only components of a backpacking sleeping system are a sleeping bag or cover and some kind of ground pad. Ground pads come in a an amazing variety of types, shapes, and sizes.
